Marin, CA — As The 420 Games’ Third Annual San Francisco Games event approaches, thousands are training and preparing to run the 4.20 mile course in Golden Gate Park. With news of Power Plant Fitness Gym coming to SF, the event offers new and exciting features this year. Coming off of a hugely successful Seattle event on July 31st, The 420 Games has stepped up their level of athleticism and activism surrounding events; this year’s SF event expects to draw the biggest turnout yet.
On August 27th at Golden Gate Park, registrants will gather in comraderie to help change the common misconception that cannabis users are unmotivated and lazy.
After sweating out the run, attendees and participants will find themselves immersed in an atmosphere of togetherness and wellness. Post-run event activities include a yoga cool-down session from professional yogis, speeches from top cannabis activists, and a concert from reggae superstar Pato Banton.
Many of the industry’s top companies will have informational booths onsite to educate the public on the many positive aspects of cannabis use. Lagunitas Brewing Company of Petaluma is a staunch supporter of the cannabis movement and sponsor of the event. All runners that finish the race will be treated to limited edition craft beer tasting.

Professional athletes in support of The 420 Games Athletic Series include olympic gold medalists, former NFL players, UFC fighters and more. In addition to well-known names in sports, and individuals joining the movement against prohibition, The 420 Games event series has garnered mainstream media attention from Newsweek, TIME, The Atlantic, Elite Daily, and sports publications such as Runner’s World. Presented by Weedmaps, the event series includes many big name sponsors. Steve DeAngelo, a nationally recognized pioneer in the cannabis reform movement and Executive Director of the nation’s model cannabis dispensary, Harborside Health Center, will give the keynote address.
Jim McAlpine and Ricky Williams have partnered and set plans to open the world’s first cannabis gym in San Francicso. PLEASE NOTE: Organizers of the run remind participants to respect the park rules of no smoking on site. The event is family friendly and no marijuana consumption takes place on site.

In a little over two years The 420 Games has experienced massive growth, and currently boasts a viral fan social media following of over 65,000 fans. Beginning in 2014 as a small, regional event with around 200 people, events in 2016 are expected to draw more than 10,000 participants.
