Portland — Yes on 1: Regulate and Tax Marijuana will kick off its final campaign push Tuesday in support of the statewide initiative to make marijuana legal for adults 21and over in Maine.

“Question 1 will allow law enforcement to focus on serious and violent crime, while generating millions in new revenue for our state,” – David Boyer, Yes on 1: Regulate and Tax Marijuana campaign manager

Campaign staff, volunteers, and supporters, including the ACLU of Maine, will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. EST at Yes on 1 headquarters in Portland. Campaign leaders will discuss their plans for the final five weeks leading up to Election Day and highlight their first television advertisement, which features former Cumberland County Sheriff Mark Dion, who has spent 32 years in law enforcement.

The TV ad can be viewed online at https://youtu.be/jKI6GFfl1M4.

“Question 1 will allow law enforcement to focus on serious and violent crime, while generating millions in new revenue for our state,” said campaign manager David Boyer. “Mark Dion has decades of law enforcement experience and knows first hand that our current marijuana laws are not working, and regulating marijuana is a far better approach.”
