Phoenix VA Protest – A Success?

A little more than 2 weeks ago Thomas Murphy drove onto the Carl T Hayden VA Medical center grounds in Phoenix and committed suicide, which observers reported as a symbolic act representing the VA’s mistreatment of veterans. At least 22 Veterans commit suicide every day.

From Safer Arizona – PTSD is ravaging our veterans and the pills they give them are always dangerous, largely ineffective, and often make things worse. Veteran after veteran will tell you that medical marijuana helps with PTSD and PTSD is a qualifying condition to get a medical marijuana card in Arizona.

VA-Thumnail-2

In an effort to raise awareness on this issue, and perhaps help prevent further veteran deaths, Safer Arizona led a protest at the Phoenix VA today. WeediaBuzz was there to report it.

It appears that some in Washington are listening. The Senate Appropriations Committee passed a bipartisan amendment recently, 18 votes to 12, allowing Veterans Administration doctors to recommend medical marijuana to their patients in states where medical marijuana is legal. The vote is the first time the U.S. Senate has ever moved marijuana law reform legislation forward.

A sign of things to come…. Let’s hope. For more information on this and other developing stories go to WeediaBuzz.com. If you have a story you’d like to see on WeediaBuzz.com, get in touch with us, let us know what’s on your mind.
